Thursdays

marina

Thursday evening sailing will start on 25 April 2013.    We usually continue till early October.

There will be a social evening in the clubhouse on 18th April with the bar open from 1830.  This will be a chance for new people to meet each other and especially the boat owners.

How it works

We make all our arrangements on line so if you would like to become involved the first step is to join the yahoo group by sending  an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  from the email address you wish to subscribe with.

Once you are a member you can post messages by sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  At the beginning of each week (usually on Monday evening) the coordinator sends an email to the group inviting people to crew.  When you see the email post a reply if  you would like to sail that week.  Please don't post a negative reply saying "cant make it this week"; it just clutters up inboxes and makes it more difficult to organise.  All replies go to the group so by watching the emails you will soon get a feel for how things are going.  On Wednesday evening I will send a message summarising the weeks sailing.

On Thursday Evenings

  • We meet at the clubhouse at 1800.  Remember the traffic on the way out to South Queensferry is hideous.  It will take much longer than you think to get there!
  • Crew is shared between the available yachts.   We almost always have room for everyone
  • We usually agree to sail up or down the river depending on wind and tide conditions.  Usually starting with a beat upwind so that we can get back easily at the end of the sail
  • Bring a picnic supper or whatever you need to eat.  You will be out on the water till about 2100 depending on conditions and there is no catering at Port Ed at that time in the evening.
  • If you find you cant make it or are delayed please call or text Ian's mobile (07785926305)
  • Novice crew are welcome.  Most of the owners are quite capable of sailing their boats single handed so it doesn't matter if you can't contribute from the outset.  You will soon be able to do so.
  • It is cold out on the Forth so dress appropriately.  You may be able to borrow a lifejacket if you don't own one but if you intend to come regularly then it is better to have your own.

All are welcome, contact Ian Cameron (Cruising Secretary), This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   if you have any questions.
