Sunday’s Race was sailed in F4 and lovely sunshine but the easterly breeze provided an edge to the temperatures. After a breakwater start the yachts beat up to J the red channel mark East of Houndpoint with the tide beginning to flood. The Black Prince, Erin and Hardslog took the North side of the river while Henceforth and Respect taking the South shore and Wild Horse starting North and then heading South. The breeze was steady at about 075.
The Back Prince rounded the windward mark followed by Erin, Henceforth, Hardslog, Respect and Wild Horse. Respect overtook Hardslog on the run who were flying their reacher as they new runner is yet to arrive after last seasons shredding ! After the next beat The Black Prince rounded the windward mark to port instead of starboard (where is Jim Scott when you need him !) but only realised when Erin rounded behind but ahead ! to Port.
Henceforth took handicap honours and Hardslog showed no respect as they took their place back from Respect on the last leg. It was also great to see Jock MacDougall back down at the marina after his recent illness. Hopefully it won’t be long before he is fully fit and back racing
