Mix and Match and SCM Crew Finder

Mix and Match is a club service for helping race crew find yachts to race on and to help racing skippers to find crew when they are short.

Sailing Club Manager provides a Crew Finder facility to allow people to register their availability to sail and race or skippers to register a need for crew. Both of these can be done for either an event (i.e. a specific race) or for a longer period of time.

In 2024 we plan that mix and match will use this Crew Finder facility to deliver a proactive service to facilitate a match for upcoming events with a few important changes as follows:

For Crew

To sign up for mix and match for a particular race then find the race in the Calendar and tick the box thats says you are avalable to crew and complete the form. (we are working on trying to simplify it. Bear with us.

Mix and Match will only facilitate a match for crew that have a mix and match accreditation.

Mix and match accreditation signifies a person has demonstrated sufficient knowledge, ability and aptitude to be able to cope and learn in a real race environment. You need to be proposed for accreditation by two people qualified to do so. All Eurobo and 707 Sunday Morning racing sessions mentors and all PEYC skippers are qualified to do so.

If someone comes to the club claiming good racing experience they may be given the opportunity to sail once in mix and match on a trial basis and be accredited immediately afterwards if their ability meets the expectation.

Please apply for accreditation to email peyc.racing@gmail.com stating your experience or the names of your proposers.

People that have signed up for Sunday mentored racing practice sessions will also be able to join mix and match if there are spaces on yachts. However, those with accreditation will get priority.

For Skippers

Only requests via SCM Crew Finder will be considered in future. Email requests will not be accepted. When you enter a race on SCM please add a crew finder request if you have spaces on your boat that you can fill. Any detailed requests will be considered on a best efforts basis.

Informing Skippers and Crew of matches

As in the past, crew matches will be done 24 hours from the race start and crew and skippers will be informed by email. A matched dashboard will be displayed below on this page.

Any requests from skippers and crew after that time will show on the website. However, it will be up to those skippers and crew to match and make contact with each other themselves.
